Introducing the Doona

Every so often, a product comes on the market leaving me wondering why it’s never been done before… and this is right up there with the best of them! Allow me to introduce the Doona from Simple Parenting

Cuddleco Doona

The Doona from Simple Parenting is a car seat but, not just a car seat, there is one fundamental difference… it has wheels. When I finally saw one in the flesh at the Baby Show a few weeks ago, I was completely amazed. The wheels flick in and out in seconds, allowing it to transition between acting as a car seat or a (short term) buggy as and when needed. Not only that, but it’s functionality is matched by it’s attractive design. Here’s the Doona in action:

Initially I did think it might just be a bit of a novelty, something I probably didn’t really need but having used it for a few weeks now I’ve come to heavily rely on it. Eleanor is now a weighty 8 month old and lifting her is not as easy as it once was, so being able to wheel her to and from the car without having to take her out is a real back saver. Not only that, but it means when we nip out or go shopping, we have essentially freed up the whole boot in our (compact) car which would usually be taken up buy a bulky pushchair, meaning there’s plenty of space for bags.

Doona journey

I get so many comments on the Doona when I take it out with me…. particularly in the supermarkets when Squish lowers the handle and pushes it around (it’s very manoeuvrable btw – very nippy indeed).

Doona

The back of the seat is a lot higher than your average car seat too meaning it can take the weight of a child older than your average 0+ car seat and comes with a newborn insert too, supporting even the tiniest of frames. We were sent the Isofix base with our Doona which I would highly recommend getting if you’re thinking of making a purchase as you’ll get the full ‘fuss free’ experience – I personally hate faffing about with the seat belts, especially now I have 2 children to guide into the car. There are lots of optional extras you can purchase too such as rain covers and a really useful snap on storage bag which I tend which is useful for storing nappies/wipes etc, meaning I don’t have to take any other bag with me from the car.DoonaMoments stairs

It truly is a genius product and my only regret is not having it from birth as it’s made life so much easier (and more hands free). Here are just a handful of #DoonaMoments that I’ve enjoyed up to now, ‘fuss free’:

– Filling up at the petrol station

– School runs

– Shopping

You can purchase the Doona over on the Cuddleco shop for £299 along with a wide selection of additional accessories.

I’ll leave you with this little video we made of Eleanor on one of our #DoonaMoments where I nipped to the shops to run a few errands. Hope you like it…
