Please please, teach me to drive!!
BEEP BEEEEP!!
Listen up everyone, I have something to declare to the world….
“My name is Danielle Adams and I cannot drive.”
*Big fat Sigh*
Driving has been one of those things that has been put off and off since I was at Uni. We have tried saving up a few times and then a bill comes along, wipes it out and we are back to square one again. The thing is, Weds to Friday I work from home and as @Yawnofthedad now walks to work, the car just sits there begging to be used while I end up getting 101 buses everywhere, which I can tell you, particularly in this weather and with a 3 year old who needs the toilet every 20minutes, is NOT fun. The worst thing is that I’m actually already insured on our car too because somehow that makes the insurance cheaper (go figure). I don’t usually mind getting buses now and then but Squish has recently started nursery too so it’s even more of a nightmare as we rely heavily on @Yawnofthedad who ends up running around like a blue-arsed fly dropping off and picking us both up. It needs to stop. I need freedom, I need some independence… I need to learn to drive.
Before Christmas I spent a good 6 weeks every Sunday having lessons with my lovely fiance but the time has now come to bring in the professionals. This does sadden me slightly as I have grown quite attached to the fail whale that @yawnofthedad likes to make with his hand (complete with whale noise) every time I stall the car. However, I’m just not confident enough to go on main roads without the added safety of a 2nd pair of pedals in case I panic.
So my question is… can anyone help me??
I’m looking for a lovely driving school/instructor in the Greater Manchester area who is willing to sponsor/work with me and in short give up some of their time to teach me to drive.
Here’s what I’ll offer in return:
- Weekly coverage on my blog with updates on my progress complete with a link to your website.
- A badge on my homepage for 6 months.
- Updates shared with all my social media channels –> Facebook, Twitter, G+, StumbledUpon…
- A warm sensation in your belly and a framed picture of me holding my driving licence to hang on your wall (not a provisional one hopefully).
If there’s anything else you think you’d like to add to this list then I am definitely open to negotiations… within reason. So if you have any questions or you think you might be the one that finally gets me on the road (god help the rest of you) and you want to be part of my success story, then please please contact me on the following email:

May the force be with you.

Ah good luck with getting a sponsor! Fantastic opportunity for them (and you!) it would be! I have only just starting learning t drive and mine is being funded b the Family Fund. I don’t think they would be able to help you as the criteria is having a disabled child. But it is sooooo expensive! I wish you luck! Maybe we can compare driving notes once you start. I am four weeks in and already I have seen all kinds of idiot drivers and pedestrians! A real eye opener!

Ooooh, glad to see someone else is learning! It’s weird, even though I’m 27 year old mum, I still won’t feel like a proper adult until I learn to drive! It’s so scary though to think I could control a giant machine that could potentially kill people! Eeeeep, no pressure!! Let me know how you get on xx

I only sat my lessons and test at 40. the money always went on the kids before that. But hubbby was working night shifts and I worked 1-8, so I got the 11 oclock bus cos by then he was in bed, and I got the 9pm bus home, getting me in for just before 10 cos he needed to get ready to go back out to work at the time I needed picked up. So I took a bank loan and paid it all to BSM, passed my test within 22 hrs and got a refund of the extra I had paid them, Meant I could use the car as I was away after he was sleeping and back before he went out (just). Makes for a great marriage…..not, but is great for childcare.
Good luck with your quest

Good for you, I was lucky enough to learn before kids and now trying to help daughter pass but it’s a life changing opportunity for you and I wish you look. The publicity for anyone offering this to you will be first class x
