I am writing this being but one distraction away from handing Squish a whole packet of biscuits and letting him go wild. Wednesday to Friday I have been working from home whilst trying to entertain a very active 2 year old. With all the distractions working online has to offer it’s hard enough being productive but recently I feel like I am working in a circus tent. Poor Squish is bored out of his brain. Practically every 2 minutes his little face peeks over the laptop asking questions and these are just his quiet moments. Everything in-between involves him skipping around the room, removing every single toy out of his toy box and jumping off the furniture like a an untamed chimp. The truth is, at the moment we haven’t much choice. We can’t afford childcare and the grandparents are already stretched so I’m having to make do until Jan when he goes to nursery. I do try and take regular breaks to do colouring in and play dough but his attention waivers after about 10 minutes and he is ready for the next task. *sigh*
So, until January arrives, away from blogging, my vocabulary consists mainly of the following words and phrases:
NO
SIT DOWN
GIVE THAT BACK
GET OFF THAT
NOT RIGHT NOW
DON’T TOUCH THAT
PUT THAT DOWN
THAT’S NOT YOURS
TAKE THAT OUT
NO YOU CAN’T
STOP ASKING THAT
PICK THAT UP
MAYBE LATER
If anyone has any tips that can get me through the next few months, please do share.
Yours sincerely,
Danni’s sanity.
(On a side note, I can’t moan too much as I will soon have somewhere AMAZING I can work after winning the RatedPeople #TotsDIY competition!!)

I can completely empathise, when Sausage was 15 months old, I started studying for a degree from home, as well as working from home too. It’s a real challenge and I think I subliminally learned the words to every episode of Waybuloo and In The Night Garden in that time, as well as the course material!

It’s a nightmare isn’t it. I was reduced to tears today because it all just got on top of me. Not good. I think I need to get better with my time management! We deserve medals!!

This is my life. I find if I offer play first thing or even take him to the park – anything that lets off steam really, he is much more settled after. And – honestly – make the most of your little one while they’re little coz it goes by in a flash!
