Meeting the Cussons Mum & Me midwife

Last Friday, I visited Cussons Mum & Me at their head office which just happens to be very local to our little family. We were treated to a host of delightful treats including a carriage of cake – yes you read that right…. a CARRIAGE of cake. With a few sandwiches and a good brew or 10 thrown in, the mood was set to have a good old chat to the Mum & Me team including their newly appointed midwife Kerrie Evans.

PZ Cussons teamed up with The Royal College of Midwives and women’s health charity, Wellbeing of Women, to offer a midwife Kerry Evans the opportunity to study for a PhD. The grant is funded by Cussons Mum & Me, and provides financial support of £60,000 following a nationwide midwife search.

Kerrie is such a fantastic asset to the Mum & Me team and it was lovely to meet her. She explained what the opportunity meant to her and how she plans to grab it with both hands…

“Now I have an amazing opportunity to pursue my research interest in women’s emotional health during pregnancy and complete a doctoral study through this fellowship. Maintaining my clinical practice means my research will be informed and inspired by the women and families in my care. Thanks to awards like these there are real opportunities for midwives with a passion to develop evidence based maternity care to benefit the health and wellbeing of women and their families.”

Brandon Leigh, PZ Cussons Group Chief Financial Officer, said “PZ Cusson’s global positioning is around caring for the health of women all around the world, and Cussons Mum & Me know how crucial midwives are when it comes to supporting women through all the ups and downs of pregnancy and early motherhood. Cussons Mum & Me is delighted to be supporting a midwife by funding their PHD”

With the Mum & Me product range so beautifully displayed it would have been rude of me not to go and have a good sniff of them all. My oh my – they smell amazing!! Seriously scrummy.

Mum & Me’s products address three key needs of mum and baby – sleep, skin and hair and has been designed to help with every stage of the journey – from bump to new mum to baby. Now, I’ve always been a Johnson’s fan by default but having taken a few bits and bobs home to try I now very boldly declare myself a Mum & Me convert. We’ve been using their baby products for a good week or so and we absolutely love them. The Sleep Tight baby bath and Ultra Mild baby Shampoo  are particular favourites of mine along with their Sleep tight massage oil which I dab on Eleanor’s really stubborn cradle cap. It’s reassuring to know too, that every product in their Baby range is hypoallergenic and paediatrician approved – they contain gentle ingredients such as Almond Oil and Aloe Vera that help keeps baby’s skin, well baby soft.

There’s lots of information about Mum & Me’s products over on their website and if you watch the #voiceofmums video (bottom right) you might even spot a familiar face! Clue: It’s Kerrie from Wife, Mum, Student Bum.

You can also find Cussons Mum & Me over on Facebook and Twitter … go and say hello, they’re lovely people! Now, you’ll have to excuse me while I go and firm up my boobs using products from their new mum range.

*Disclaimer: we were sent home with a lovely Mum & Me Goodie bag in return for attending this event however all opinions are my own*

  1. Gutted I missed this. But at least I was there in the photos :) We love the Mum & Me range (I actually use it myself ha ha) I think that it is fantastic that they have funded PhDs for healthcare professionals. We all value you them so much for our pregnancies and births and for them to be given funding for further professional qualifications is great. I’m glad you had such a good time :)
